It was just the styling of the show, with its headscarves and braided twin buns worn at the back of the models’ heads, that made her Mercedes-Benz Fashion Days in Kiev presentation feel connected to her country’s sartorial heritage. This was a well-executed collection, but it would have been nice to have seen the designer explore some of her core concepts a bit more fully and taken them to more unexpected places. The colorful spaghetti strapped apron-like dresses, the bold striped ensembles and even the bugle beadwork forming abstract patterns all had an Eastern European vibe about them. The choice of sneakers instead of heels also helped the collection feel a bit more contemporary.
