'Long Term Food Storage - Rice in Mylar Bags and Buckets If sealed and stored properly, they will last 30 years. Once opened, approximately 2 years. Depending on personal preference, 25-60lbs of rice should be stored per person. Only white rice, brown rice has natural oils which significantly reduce shelf-stable storage.
