'One of the major consequences of exposure to highly palatable foods isn\'t so much that the food is super harmful: “it\'s causing inflammation and it\'s damaging the system.” But really what it does is it teaches the brain what to expect from food. So the major consequence of a lot of these foods is that children grow up not enjoying the taste of foods that aren\'t processed or produced for capitalistic gain per se. I think that\'s a really important conversation. A lot of the health consequences of food addiction might come less from the foods that people are eating and more so from all the foods that people aren\'t eating.
