If you are looking to replace an ice chest you will be disappointed. On the cool setting the temperature will drop about 20 degrees from the initial ambient temperature. (Example: 75 degrees Fahrenheit inside the cooler before turning on, after 45mins- 1hr it will be 55 degrees Fahrenheit.) When having, this plugged in to my car\'s battery port without the car running it took 1.5hrs for the cooler to drop 20 degrees. While driving around town with it plugged in the total time was about an hour for the temperature to drop 20 degrees. I have driven with it for 2 hours without the temperature going lower than around 20 degrees less. The heat setting increases the temperature very quickly! While driving around for 30 minutes the temperature inside the cooler increased by 25 degrees. The initial temperature was 74 degrees and after half an hour the temperature rose to 99 degrees. I find this to be better for keeping food warm than cooling your drinks. Don\'t expect this to keep items cold like they would be in an ice chest.
