'Here are a few individual hacks and techniques that I use in order to not only save money on food but eat as healthy as possible in the process. I\'ve also included a few different techniques for cooking as well as convenience and efficiency so that it becomes less of a task to eat well. As promised here is my own method for cooking rice IF YOU DO NOT OWN A RICE COOKER OR WISH TO COOK LARGE AMOUNTS (ADVISED): 1: Place the pot you are using on the stove top on HIGH HEAT and line the surface with olive oil or coconut oil (simple way to cook coconut rice). 2: Pour the amount of rice you wish to cook into the pot quickly after STEP 1 and mix in thoroughly with the oil until all rice granules are coated with oil. 3: Shake the pot until all the rice is settled nicely at the bottom of the bottom and pour one and a half times the amount of rice in HOT water form into the pot. 4: Once you have poured the water in, do not mix just place the lid on immediately. 5: When the water starts to boil (you should know this by steam coming out of the side or through a hole depending on your pot) turn the stove down to LOW heat and let the rice rest for 20 minutes (30 minutes for brown) 6: Once that 20 or 30 minutes is up the rice is READY! NOTE: -DO NOT take the lid off at any point during this. Not to check, not to mix, nothing; it will alter the cycle. -The only real difference between the white & brown rice cooking is the rest time on low heat and also the brown may take slightly longer to steam/boil.
