
'Pinnacle Foods\' IPO debut was a successful one, now, as commodity prices rise, big strategics are looking to capitalize on synergies and Hillshire Farms Co. struck a $6.6 billion deal with the PE-backed maker of branded food products. The transaction values Pinnacle at $4.28 billion. Already, consolidation has been afoot in the foods space, and more mergers could be on the way--especially with foreign players looking to mitigate high pork prices at home.
