Located at Mavoor Road, near the KSRTC Bus Stand, 45-year old Hotel Sagar serves a variety of food items from 6 am till late night at 2 am on all days of the week. So, depending on what you wish to have you can come here at any convenient time of the day. Meals, Parotta and Meen Curry, Pidi kozhi fry, Meen Porichathu, Chicken Biryani available here are an all-time hit among its customers.  Food Lovers’ Editor, Kripal Amanna tastes some of the must-haves at this popular Kozhikoden eatery.   IRANI KEBAB this dish is Hotel Sagar’s ode to the Middle Eastern region. Not a dish I would return for, but a tasty dish nonetheless. rs. 240 (usd 3.3 ) 6.5/10  PRAWN DRY FRY the prawns are medium-sized and pack flavour. A tad excessive on salt, but nothing that a squeeze of lime can’t fix. I love the spicy-sweet bite of the prawn and toasty notes of coconut oil in which it has been fried. the sort of dish that will make a prawn lover happy.  rs. 268 (usd 3.7) 8.5/10  AVOLI FISH FRY The white pomfret is almost crunchy to the bite, the skin is fried to the perfect crisp and soft inside. If you like the flavour of your fish fry to be robust, eat it with a generous measure of the spicy coconut mix that’s garnishing the fish.  rs. 375 (usd 5.2) 8.5/10  PIDI KOZHI PORICHATHU it\'s a spring chicken, so there\'s tiny bones to work around to get to the meat. But once you get to the meat, it’s moist and delicious, swathed in a zesty coconut mixture. A must have dish at Hotel Sagar. rs. 190 (usd 2.6 ) 9/10  MEEN MOLAGATHU CURRY  a hugely popular dish here, the fish has soaked up the spicy-sour flavours of the curry to the point where it almost disintegrates in your mouth sans any effort. The curry has a chilli kick that’s balanced by the acidity that comes from tamarind and tomatoes. The light rice pathiri and the layered parotta, both make for an ideal companion to mop up this tantalisingly tasty fish curry. rs. 140 (usd 1.9) 10/10  CHICKEN BIRYANI Kozhikoden style dum biryani made with kaima rice. the flavours in the biryani are well rounded, I definitely taste the prominent notes of cinnamon.
