
'Zangi is relatively a new food in Hokkaido and it first appeared in 1960 in a city called Kushiro located in the East Hokkaido. Kushiro has been one of the chicken farming centres on the island and a chef owning a small local Chinese restaurant invented this dish making use of the local chicken. It’s wide spread all over Hokkaido, now and made in every household there.
