'#foodtruck #tamilnadufood #bangalore traditional tamil nadu, salem style, non-vegetarian, street fare, food truck, kalakki, mutton kari dosa, nati chicken, mutton chops, brain fry, pepper fry, podi dosa, east bengaluru, bengaluru When Prabhu, an automobile engineer with a major car company chose to pursue his entrepreneurial calling in food, a food truck didn\'t come across as a surprise to his father who encouraged him to pursue his dreams. After getting his hands on a Tempo Traveller, he drove it to Pune to fabricate a food truck that would serve up the meaty cuisine of his Tamil heritage with a smattering of influences from Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka as well. Back in Bengaluru, this culinary enterprise on wheels, Kaveri Godavari Foods, is slowly but surely gaining popularity in the neighbourhood it is parked in. Adding to its appeal is the fact that all dishes here are prepared at Prabhu’s home and cooked in wood-pressed oils extracted in the family’s oil mill. I drive 20 kilometres to East Bengaluru to catch up with this passionate engineer and experience the streetfood vibe here whilst savouring a bunch of tasty preparations - egg kothu parotta, kalakki podi dosa, mutton parotta, chops, nati chicken, brain fry and more. Hope you enjoy this episode. Stay safe and happy eating! Mutton Brain Fry Tava-fried with eggs in an aromatic, homemade masala, this is the dish to taste if you love brain meat; it quite simply melts in the mouth. The eggs also help make more of the dish that is perfect, mopped up with some parotta. Rs. 150 (usd 2) 9/10 Kuzhambu Kalakki A Salem egg staple, egg cooked skilfully such that it encloses within its folds a gooey, spicy egg mixture. Traditionally, this is eaten at the end of a non-vegetarian meal in Salem. Rs. 15 (usd 0.2) 7.5/10 Mutton Kari Dosa A fluffy dosa topped with coarse mutton mince, eggs and served with a spicy curry, this is the sort that makes for a satisfying one-dish meal or a big late-night snack. Rs. 140 (usd 1.9) 7.5/10 Mutton Chops Goat chops cooked in a gravy rich in the flavour of dark-roasted spices, this is a dish that will bring me back to KGF. The meat is the sort that peels away from the bone in a juicy, peppery bite. Order a plain dosa to soak up the curry. Rs. 150 (usd 2) 10/10 Podi Dosa One can smell the nutty aroma of the peanut oil that this dose has been roasted in. The dosa is smeared with an Andhra podi whilst being fried to a near crisp. A dose that goes ‘crunch’ from the first bite to the last, with a slightly tangy edge. Rs. 60 (usd 0.8) 9/10 Nati Chicken Pepper Fry The chicken is slightly chewy, true to the character of country chicken. The masala is flavourful although I could taste the overbearing spices that were used to tawa-roast the chicken. Rs. 200 (usd 2.7) 7.5/10 Chicken Stuffed Parotta Rs. 100 (usd 1.9) 7.5/10 Kripal Amanna, Gourmet On The Road, Food Lovers TV TIMINGS: Location 1 (6pm to 10pm), location 2 (1030pm to 2am) Note: The food truck moves between two locations, please refer to the locations below.
