'Link to my reaction and review of Shokugeki no Souma San no Sara - Toutsuki Ressha-hen OVA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2i8mfJiT5cQ Ok so I think its a really great backstory, obviously you need to be a genius (with an IQ of at least 200) to be able to relate to the horrible life os Saiba Jocichiro but :) No but there is several good points this episode brings up. First of all, Saiba is super talented but also the hardest worker of them all, but people start calling it just genius, talent or luck pretty much, so the better he gets the less people actually respect him for who he is and for what he do in a way. He is talented but hes also 100% all in, something that the other lacks, so the better he gets the less happier he gets from peoples complaints and the general feel that no one actually cares about him personally, what he actually has accomplishes, how hard he actually works etc. The better he gets the less people actually think he is good, or I guess deserves to be good is way to say it as well. Secondly, he is never challenged, and I dont mean challenged as its too easy for him (while that is also the case) but when he does an amazing dish everyone takes it for granted, that is for me at least very relate to my work, when i spend a lot of time on a speficic taks at work and make it really good, e.g for a design concept, my boss and/or co worker give me less feedback because they then they just accept my design right away. And that is actually really hearthbreaking becasue the more time you spend if are really, really into you have thought about every possible scenario and you ar ready for peoples question to explain to them why you did X and not Y. This is clearly shown when Saiba show of his new dish to 3 old experts and when he is trying to motivate why he did certain things they all just kinda ignore him and are all right, yayaya, we get it its already a 10/10 Good job whats next. So the better food he makes the less people actually challenges his ideas and the less iterative his improvement becomes, and the lonelier he feels. Its a lonely feeling but also its a very frustrating feeling, he feels all that extra handwork to think out any special case etc is pointless as people take it for granted he will deliver an amazing dish each time. Thirdly, as always being on top is bad for your general likableness of course so people are now afraid of him and people dont interact with him as they used to do when he was presenting his food. So a double douse of its lonely on the top. Fourth, the whole BLUE thing and what is shown with him taking damage all the episode, the better he gets the more demand people have on him as some kind of messiah but as Gin says in that great crying scene, Saiba is in the end just a normal kid who liked to cook food. In the end this perfectly fits why Souma is the perfect son for him. Souma is never afraid even do his Dad beats him every time easily, Souma never backed down, Souma always kept questioning why he did X and Y etc. So that last moment with Gin Talking about Souma saved his father in the desert storm, is extremely fitting. (Feels like we should assume that Souma´s mother is very similar to his characteristics as well and why Saiba felled in love with her) Social Media: Myrmonden´s Discord Server https://discord.gg/ax2eWCV Myrmonden main Youtube channel http://bit.ly/2piHMLs Myrmonden Twitter https://twitter.com/Myrmonden Myrmonden Twitch https://www.twitch.tv/myrmonden Myrmonden - Shokugeki no Souma season 3 Episode 21 Review Myrmonden - Shokugeki no Souma San Sara Episode 21 Review.
