'XENIA -- There is a lot of fun to be had at the Greene County Fair, especially with all the different things to eat. So how do you know if what you\'re eating is safe?There\'s a lot of work that goes on behind the scenes. A team of inspectors come out armed with a thermometer and a checklist to ensure everything is safe. One fair vendor, Ann Daniels, says, this is the best corn I\'ve had this Summer yet, it\'s really good. Matter of fact, I\'ve already had one ear and I came up to get another.Food vendors expect many visitors, including a visit from the health department. When I come to the Greene County Fair, it\'s usually because I\'m working, says Rick Schairbaum with the Greene County Health Department. We check food temperatures, hand washing, ware washing to make sure they\'re providing a safe food and doing so in a way that\'s not going to make anyone sick. Vendor Beverly Ruse from R B\'s says, it\'s very important, I mean, you don\'t want anybody to get sick. What we fix we feed ourselves, so that pretty much says everything. As people dig into some of the best fair dishes, they can eat with ease because Rick and his team pay a visit to each booth. Their pavement pounding has paid off, they\'ve never had a problem at the Greene County Fair.If you see of suspect a problem at the fair, you can call the health department who will pay another visit.'
