'In November of 2018, I had the pleasure of re-visiting one of my all-time favorite travel destinations: India. I first visited the country roughly ten months earlier, and this time I dove even deeper by eating and sightseeing my way through seven incredible cities with my travel buddy Sam from Samuel and Audrey. Subscribe to Sam & Audrey: https://www.youtube.com/user/BackpackingTravelTV Follow Abshishek: https://www.instagram.com/shekzilla/ Our forty-eight hours in Bengaluru, formerly known as Bangalore, were quickly coming to a close, but I knew I had to have one final hurrah in the city and try some stellar non-veg food! Come along with me, Sam, and our friend Abhishek (a.k.a. Shekzilla) for another exciting street food adventure in Bengaluru! My Film Making Kit ► https://kit.com/davidsbeenhere We kicked off our nighttime street food tour of Frazer Town with a stop at Shahi Kabab for some Sheek Sambo Rolls, which consists of six beef kebabs and generous portion of onions, all rolled up in a roti. It was my first time having beef in India and it did not disappoint. It was amazing! The beef was spicy and seasoned perfectly. The heat hit me afterward, and at just roughly $2.85 US, it was a hearty, tasty, and inexpensive way to start off our food tour! Our next stop was Empire Restaurant, the most famous restaurant in Bengaluru, to try some butter chicken, ghee rice, grilled chicken, and shawarma. Butter chicken is chicken that is served in a rich, creamy, and buttery tomato-based sauce. It wasn’t hot at all and was incredible with the ghee rice. The grilled chicken was spicy and juicy and came with a delicious sauce. I followed that with some Mosambi juice, which is a refreshing and naturally sweet lime juice that is said to have lots of health benefits. Next at Empire, we went with the chicken shawarma, which was made by cutting up the chicken, mixing it with a coleslaw-like salad and yogurt sauce, and stuffing it into a delicious, chewy, and slightly charred rolled pita. The vegetables inside were fantastic and I loved the spicy yogurt sauce! From there, we walked over to a small, roadside stall called Taj Tea House, for some piping hot lemon chai that’s served in a tiny glass and is made with lots of sugar, a bit of lime juice, and a mint leaf for garnish. It had a very strong lemon taste, almost like straight lemon juice! It reminded me of some teas I had in Morocco and Jordan. It was so good I bought another one, and at just 10 rupees (or 10-15 cents US), it was more than worth it! We ended our street food tour with a visit to an ice cream parlor called Corner House, where I tried their Death by Chocolate, a huge, rich, and decadent sundae that contains vanilla ice cream, chocolate cake, cream, honey, chocolate sauce, peanuts, and cherries. There was a lot of honey flavor and the chocolate cake was like a thick brownie. The peanuts added a nice crunch, but look out for the cherry seeds! I hope you had fun joining me, Sam, and Abhishek as we gorged on the savory, meaty, sweet, and super-rich fare of Frazer Town!
